Commuter rail info

Thanks to the anonymous editor for providing us with the commuter rail info, but I'm not sure that it's useful here. This guide is to provide general information about rail travel in the U.S. and not city specific rail systems. Developing the page

Hello to everyone who has been putting together this page. I meant to contribute much sooner, and only got round to adding a few bits yesterday. I've made the assumption that since most visitors to the USA who want to experience rail travel with use Amtrak, that information about that network should be put more prominently than other (luxury) operators. I'll continue to add a few bits and pieces over the next few days; I would hope that this page becomes an inspiration to those dreaming or planning of a big trip. Um, there's the Alaska Railroad, too. That is a major railroad in the USA because of its location (in Alaska, it happens to be the primary railroad, and it is of a medium-long-distance nature). 204.52.215.107 01:42, 20 January 2008 (EST)

Amtrak Routes

I've been wanting to add something to the list of Amtrak routes on Wikivoyage. What we have now is really basic. I'd like to see an Amtrak route guide that has more specific information on all the routes (such as all the communities being served by that line, how frequent the trains run, etc.), but for that amount of information it would probably require a seperate article. Tourist Railroads

Under Passenger Rail Companies, we have a small list of privately owned, tourist railroads. But what's in the list is but a fraction of the dozens of touristic railroads across the country (there definitely seems to be an emphasis on New York State railroads here...).
