Rivas city not departamento
[edit]unless I am very much mistaken Rivas does not have a beach. The departamento does, but there is a reason the articles on Nicaragua are either about a region or a city.
- We don't have or need a department article at this time, so unless there is a better article in which to cover them, they can (and should) still be covered here, as the closest city. We might just need to adjust the language accordingly to reflect that they are nearby beaches not in the city. Texugo (talk) 12:28, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
- I think it is confusing rather than informing as the beaches are although technically and legally in the Rivas departamento nowhere close to the town and would be considered "beaches around San Juan del Sur" from a traveller's point of view... (as the beaches are all on the pacific ocean just look at a map of Rivas and San Juan del Sur)
- It won't be confusing if you explain in the article where they are. Anyway, the important thing is that they be covered with the nearest city/town for which we have an article. If that's not this one, fine, but the information should definitely not be simply deleted. If we have another article closer to where they are, move the info to that article and adapt it accordingly. Or if we ought to create a new city article and put the info there, that's fine too. Otherwise, just leave it here and adjust it so that it is not confusing. Texugo (talk) 11:16, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
- that would be the article about San Juan del Sur then which already has a near exhaustive listing of beaches and surfing so tacking this on would imho do nothing to improve that article 141.30.210.129 11:21, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
- If it's a nice beach, list it and let visitors make up their own minds about whether to go there or not. Ikan Kekek (talk) 11:54, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
- As far as I can tell, San Juan del Sur lists 4 surf shop/beach rentals, but does not really discuss the actual beaches at all, aside from mentioning that there are dozens of them. I don't see how this information could fail to enrich that article at least a little. And anyway, aren't there any specific beaches to highlight? Surely "dozens of beaches" are not all the same. - Fair enough, however as I've only been in San Juan del Sur once and only for a short time and I don't care about surfing I am the wrong person to do this. Still imho it would do more harm than good to leave it here, because some unsuspecting traveller might go to Rivas with her surfboard and look for non-existing beaches that could've been had plentifully in SJDS141.30.210.129 17:02, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
