Drink v island[edit]

I moved the island to Rùm since that's its name and made "Rum" a DAB page since Wikivoyage:Requested articles#Eat/Drink lists it as well as the fact that there is a place in Austria. I'm not sure how likely the drink or town are to get an article here so perhaps redirect back to the island if needed? Crouch, Swale (talk) 14:38, 6 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My keyboard doesn't have a "ù". I would prefer Rum (Scotland), or Rhum. AlasdairW (talk) 18:15, 6 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Is there any local usage of "Rùm"? Please provide some links. The calmac ferry goes to Rum. AlasdairW (talk) 18:20, 6 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've created Rum (Scotland) as a redirect, using an alternative name seems preferable to a qualified one, the WP article is at w:Rùm. There has been some debate about diacritics, see w:Talk:George Puscas (sports writer) for example. There does seem to be a consensus that they are acceptable even if they are commonly removed when anglicised. The (England based) Ordnance Survey uses Rùm and my A-Z (which gets its mapping from the OS) uses Rùm for the ferry routes namely "Mallaig to Rùm 1hr. 20 mins" however because the ferry prefers Rum I left those instances as such. There is another example of Rùm at Peak Adviser though its not local. I would not use "Rhum" since it was renamed back and that usage seems to have largely disappeared.
