Small ski resort and summer walking resort in the French Alps.

Situated immediately west of the Mt Blanc massive in a side valley about 4km from the A41 Motorway and TGV (mainline) station at La Fayet.

Originally a Victorian Spa town but baths are now lower down at La Fayet. Has an old centre with miture of small cafes restaraunts shops etc. Plenty of small hotels, apartments and houses provide accomodation in the town (which straggles a bit) and in the area.

Cable car situated in huge car park about 1km from the centre of town. This takes you up to La Bettex (more hotels, snack bars and apartments and smaller car park) where main ski runs end. (although it is possible to ski back to bottom station for some of the season). From here main gondola or chair lifts take you to Mt d' Arbois and the slopes which lie between St Gervais and Megeve including Mt Joux. Most of the slopes have open aspect and present no particular difficulties.

The east facing slopes give fine views of Mt Blanc above the Glacier de Bionnassay, Aiguille de Gouter, Aiguille de Bionnassay and Domes de Miage.

During the summer these slopes provide fine walking with grassy ridges and fine views. Mt Joly is one of the most popular destinations.

A rack railway climbs from La Fayet via St Gervais towards Mt Blanc. It stops at le Nid d'Aigle; a viewpoint over the Glacier de Bionnassay.

This destination is barely even an outline, and this discourages contributions. But it's a significant resort, and distinct from Chamonix. I've started to build it but with limited knowledge of the area, and for a first attempt formats and French accents will have to wait. Others please weigh in if you know the place better.
