Does this need to be a disambiguation page or a simple redirect? In other words, is there more than one place for this name or more than one name for this place? (WT-en) Maj 09:03, 16 May 2007 (EDT)
- As far as I can tell it's just another name for the same place. But in fact, the redirect is backwards: Samothrace is the common English name, not Samothraki. - (WT-en) Todd VerBeek 11:17, 16 May 2007 (EDT)
too many pictures or not?
[edit]Auditors have different opinions on how many pictures are suitable for an article. In my experience people first look at the pictures and than read the text if they saw something they are interested in. In my opinion many pictures make an article more interesting for the readers. What is your opinion? User:DocWoKav
- The consensus is shown at Wikivoyage talk:Image policy#Minimal use of images - not appropriate. The upshot of that thread is that a long unbroken stream of images on the right is not Wikivoyage style. You should feel free to make your argument in the linked thread, but it got little support the last time it was advanced. It's best to choose photos selectively, keeping in mind that readers can use the link to the relevant Commons category to see more. Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:58, 13 May 2018 (UTC)
- please compare: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samothrace. May be its possible to add a Gallery like Wikipedia at the end? That would be a good compromise i guess DocWoKav
- We almost never use galleries on Wikivoyage, and definitely not for the purpose of showing a bunch of sights at the same time. Please read Wikivoyage:Image policy. Then, if you want to argue for a change in policy, don't do it anywhere except at Wikivoyage talk:Image policy. Image policy is for the entire site, not something to "compromise" on on a given page. You do great work, but I'm not sure you understand how Wikis work by consensus on policy, format and style. I hope you stick around and continue contributing, but you are just as bound by consensus as everyone else, and that doesn't mean that the consensus is compromised by the wishes of one individual but that you accede to the consensus, even if you argue with it on the policy's talk page and don't agree with it.
