Wikipedia copying (2004)[edit]

I reverted the content of this page; it was copied from Wikipedia. Wikivoyage and Wikipedia have incompatible copyleft licenses, so we can't just copy stuff from there. Sorry. --(WT-en) Evan 22:09, 26 Jan 2004 (EST)

Delta Bessborough "shabby genteel"[edit]

"The room style can best be described as "shabby genteel"." < Shabby? Can anyone confirm? --I don't have an account yet :( 04:06, 4 July 2008

I just walked through the hotel, looked at the lobby and meeting room floors and walked the hall of one of the guest room floors. As far as I can see, it's a perfectly well-maintained corporate hotel in a fine old building, and the label "shabby genteel" is not deserved. JimDeLaHunt (talk) 05:41, 4 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The Wikivoyage history doesn't show where that "shabby genteel" language came from. A revision revision on 08:20, 30 March 2013 seems to have no entry for the Bessborough. The next revision, on 01:34, 21 May 2013‎, has an entry with the "shabby genteel" comment. The funny thing is, this edit seems to be converting an XML-style listing, not adding it. Maybe an edit got lost from the history, perhaps related to the fork from Wikitravel. I see a Wikitravel edit on 23:27, 27 May 2008 by Wikitravel user Zannah adding the "shabby genteel" language. After 8 years, I think it's OK to reevaluate. JimDeLaHunt (talk) 05:41, 4 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Challenge accepted! I am now making a quick visit to Saskatoon, my first, and I'm rewriting and improving freely throughout the article. I'm using my traveler's needs as my guide. I don't know the town well, though, so I hope locals will correct any mistakes I make. JimDeLaHunt (talk) 07:50, 4 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
