Talk:South East England
Add topicAlthough the "official" South East is now the counties NW, W and S of London, this is just to make some useful regions for the EU and regional development boards. Most people in the UK would also include the counties of Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex in the Home Counties and the South East. I may change the regions to reflect this if no-one objects. -- (WT-en) DanielC 07:47, 6 Jun 2005 (EDT)
- I agree - in my experience, these counties are more widely considered to be part of the South East.
- As it is, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire are relegated almost to an afterthought in sections of the East Anglia page, which does not look very good. --(WT-en) David Edgar 13:50, 1 Sep 2005 (EDT)
- Yes, I pointed out some time ago that Herts was not part of East Anglia. Much better to have them here. (WT-en) Shep 09:05, 7 February 2010 (EST)
- Just shows how popular region articles are eh? This was mooted five years ago and today is the first response! :) --(WT-en) Burmesedays 09:08, 7 February 2010 (EST)
- I guess people just look up the places they plan to visit. Regions might be useful in the case of, say, Indonesia, with one article per island, but in the UK??(WT-en) Shep 09:11, 7 February 2010 (EST)

cities and towns
[edit]There is a problem here. Wikivoyage uses "city" in the American sense. Any two-bit town is a "city". So to have a section "cities and towns" is an arbitrary distinction that Americans would not understand. But if we revert to cities only, the rule is only nine in the list so some towns will have to be dropped!(WT-en) Shep 09:08, 7 February 2010 (EST)
