Vowels

[edit]

The explanations of the repeating vowels and the dual vowels seem identical. Is there any difference a novice Tausug learner needs to know about? Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:13, 15 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Dual vowels is two similar vowels like for example, a & a in the word "daak" and i & i in the word "giik". Jabolero (talk) 12:27, 20 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Repeating vowel suggest that a certain vowel is being repeated.

While in dual vowel is two different vowel like a & u in the word "saub" Jabolero (talk) 12:31, 20 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your input, Jabolero. But how is that important information for people who, rather than being linguists, are just novice Tausug learners who want to learn survival-level Tausug for a trip of a couple of weeks? To me, whether the two vowels are the same or different, all I need to know is whether I have to pronounce them one after the other, prolong the sound if they're the same vowel, or make them a diphthong. I don't have a reason to care how linguists classify them. Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:38, 20 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
