I've moved this here from the lede, because it doesn't really seem that useful or important to me:
Pronounce : Than-jaa-voor.
It is sometime referred as Tanjavur (wrong) or Thanjavoor.
If "Thanjavoor" is an alternate spelling, let's put that in the parentheses right at the beginning of the article. Mentioning an incorrect spelling doesn't seem important. The pronunciation seems obvious, except for the "th" instead of "t" sound, but I can't tell whether the "th" is as in "think" or a combination of "t" and "h", as in "goatherd".
