Template[edit]

Since the White Mountains are a region rather than a park this article should be converted to the Project:Region article template, which is more appropriate. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 02:28, 2 June 2007 (EDT)

I thought it was more like a park than a region. There is a park-like Bristlecone preserve embedded in part of a national forest, which is also park-like. Anyhow, it isn't too hard to edit in new categories, or rename existing categories. What changes would you suggest, Ryan? 76.80.26.121 20:02, 4 June 2007 (EDT)

I've updated the article to use the region template. Generally the park template is only used for an area with clearly defined borders that is under the management of a single entity, such as a national park, state park, wildlife refuge, African game park, etc. Areas that don't meet that criteria are considered regions and use the region article template. Project:Article templates has a few more details if you're interested. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 23:17, 4 June 2007 (EDT)
A decade later either Wikivoyage has changed, or I need to admit that in my younger years I was wrong about how to write about this area. While the White Mountains aren't exactly like a national park, the park article headings are more appropriate for writing about this area than a region template would be - visitors want to know where to camp and hike, and not what cities are here. I'll convert it back to a park template now. -- Ryan • (talk) • 02:28, 13 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
