Lunar New Year dates

The year of the Rat started on 4 Feb 2020 at 17:03, and the Lunar New Year was on 25 Jan 2020

  • The year of the Ox will begin on 3 Feb 2021 at 22:58, and the Lunar New Year will be on 12 Feb 2021
  • The year of the Tiger will begin on 4 Feb 2022 at 04:50, and the Lunar New Year will be on 1 Feb 2022
  • The year of the Rabbit will begin on 4 Feb 2022 at 10:42, and the Lunar New Year will be on 22 Jan 2023

Contrary to popular belief, the change of the zodiac does not occur on the first day of the Lunar New Year, but instead occurs on Li Chun (立春 lì chūn), the traditional Chinese start of spring.

Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese dates coincide until at least 2020. Mongol dates diverged in 2017.
