The code[edit]

Yes, the code for this template is ugly. UGLY. But it works, and it's a lot better than having seven different templates depending on how many rows you want in the box. (WT-en) LtPowers 10:51, 11 January 2009 (EST)

Need more routes[edit]

I need a 9th route for the Bangkok article, while this template is limited to 8. How could I achieve this? --(WT-en) globe-trotter 03:42, 13 January 2011 (EST)

Easy, I think, Copy/paste one or two blocks and change the numbers of them in 9 and 10 in the template. That shout work. --(WT-en) Rein N. 03:51, 13 January 2011 (EST)
Oh, for Pete's sake -- it was originally limited to seven for a reason. I figured that was the most ridiculous possible extreme anyone could ever need. What in the world do you need NINE for? (WT-en) LtPowers 09:37, 13 January 2011 (EST)
I can see nine on occasion, following our typical 7+-2 rules as we do for other things like cities. I certainly wouldn't expect it to hit 9 as often as our city lists do though. (WT-en) Texugo 10:56, 13 January 2011 (EST)
I imagine that this would come up for countries with very centralized transport systems, where virtually all main routes go through the capital. That would certainly be the case for, say, Moscow, which includes virtually all the most important road and rail routes in an enormous country. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 11:50, 13 January 2011 (EST)
I will admit I was only thinking of roads at the time. It was later that we expanded it to rail and other transportation routes. Still, nine seems like too many; I would advise paring the list down if at all possible. (WT-en) LtPowers 19:30, 13 January 2011 (EST)
I'm not sure we can pick and choose like that. If the route is already laid out across the country with routeboxes implemented in the articles, don't you think it would be weird to leave it out of the list when you come to a hub just because it's one too many? (WT-en) Texugo 20:19, 13 January 2011 (EST)
That's why I said "if at all possible". =) (WT-en) LtPowers 14:37, 14 January 2011 (EST)

Routebox editing issues[edit]

Swept in from the pub
Example of error on the routebox

As of today, when editing a routebox,
is being added to the right-hand destinations, as shown on the image to the right. The routebox template hasn't been edited recently, so that's not the issue. Eco84 (talk) 21:58, 26 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not 100% confident in this fix, but I think the edits I just made to Template:Routebox and Template:Routebox/row will resolve the issue. The former appears to have had some mis-matched braces that for some reason weren't breaking anything. The latter is where the
was coming from, so I assume that perhaps the underlying Mediawiki parser might have changed in a way that caused it to display instead of generating a carriage return? -- Ryan • (talk) • 22:57, 26 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The
is gone, but the excessive gap between the place name and the actual routebox (which I previously forgot to mention) is still there. Eco84 (talk) 23:23, 26 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I think Special:Diff/2844941/2845001 should fix spacing issues. -- Ryan • (talk) • 00:06, 27 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
