Template talk:Welcomeplus

How to use this template:

This template automatically includes the user's user-name in the greeting, and adds an optional personalized comment.

This template should only be used by substitution: {{subst:welcomeplus}}.

It will not work properly if used by reference: {{welcomeplus}}.

A personalized comment can be included by adding it as a parameter, e.g. {{subst:welcomeplus|Thanks for your contributions to the article for [[Bolivia]].}}. This comment will be added to the first paragraph of the message, right after the greeting. If you don't include a parameter, the template will leave {{{1|}}} in its place, which will not show up when simply reading the page, but will be visible when the user edits their User_talk page. To prevent that, add a blank parameter: {{subst:welcomeplus|}}.

emphasize custom message?[edit]

I wonder if we can (and should) emphasize the custom message? It's personal most of the time, and we'd better add emphasis to it. Can we use bold for it (or mark it as black, while making the rest of the article in dark grey)?

At the very least, we definitely should put the message to a separate paragraph--no objections here? --(WT-en) DenisYurkin 16:03, 16 March 2010 (EDT)

Plunged forward. --(WT-en) DenisYurkin 15:50, 8 April 2010 (EDT)

Newer template[edit]

A better (less condescending?) template to use for more experienced users that may have come from other Wikis:

"Hello Welcomeplus and welcome to Wikivoyage!

'

Wikivoyage is a project with the aim to create a free, up-to-date, and reliable world-wide travel guide, and it is based on an association with the same name: Wikivoyage e.V.

To get a clearer idea about Wikivoyage and how it works, have a look at the community policies and the FAQ section. It may also be useful to read the Copyleft page where you can find more information about our license. The part of Wikivoyage called Wikivoyage General helps Wikivoyagers to organize and discuss language independent topics. If you want to find more information related to potential language versions, have a look at the language version discussions page. "How to start a new language version" will help you plunge forward.

If you understand their languages, it might be interesting to have a look at the German or the Italian language versions of Wikivoyage, as those are the long established language versions and there you will have an opportunity to discover what the project and its articles look like. The launch of the English Language version is imminent. The images that are used within our articles are at Wikivoyage Shared.
