The Tongo Hills are a group of hills near Tongo in the Ghanaian Northern Plains. The highest elevation is 355 m.

Get around[edit]

The Tongo Hills are 20 km southeast from Bolgatanga, which can easily be reached with a car or bus from most other cities. For the last few kilometres, a Tricycle or taxi can be used.

  • 1 Tengzug Shrine. 6AM - 10PM. The Tengzug Shrine is located in the Tongo hills and is believed to grant luck and prosperity to all those who visit it. Beware of the exorbitant price for a profoundly uninspired village tour (15 cedis), the price of which you won't be told about until afterwards. free.
  • Old School: Is a formation of rocks which was used as a school building in the past
  • Hiding Cave: A cave inside a pile of rocks which was used to hide during times of violence and war

Although there are no marked hiking trails you still can enjoy hiking in the Tongo Hills. There are no official maps, however openstreetmap.org can be used to navigate around the hills.
