It was an ambitious project for Marina Sanctuary Resort Sdn Bhd; the sand was dredged from the coast of Teluk Muroh to make this dream come true. As the sand rose to the surface, it became the birth of the first man-made island in the state of Malaysia. The land swept across 316.9 acres is called Marina Island Pangkor. It is connected with a 400-meter bridge from Teluk Muroh to the island, making it easier to commute for the public. Also serving patrons and residents of Pangkor Island via jetty facility, and became the second jetty in Malaysia for Pangkor Island.

Those involved in the reclamation project to form the first man-made island in Malaysia took five years of complete planning and study to ensure that when the island's manufacturing was carried out, it would not interfere with the environment and ecosystems. Although many of the construction and reclamation around the coast of Teluk Muroh are important for the Perak economic sector, the authorities are also urged to be concerned about the coastal bay of Teluk Muroh’s heritage that is getting lost. However, the beginning of Marina Island is the pride of Perak Tourism.
