This page is a draft. The name is also a placeholder.

Like any other project, Wikivoyage is part of the WMF, along with 10 other content projects. However, unlike the other 10 content projects, Wikivoyage's (at least the larger-language Wikivoyages, including English, French and Spanish) creation stemmed from forking Wikitravel. Although it has been over 11 years since the fork, one of the few things I've noticed quite a bit during my time here is the ignorance to follow global standards adopted in the wider WMF world, and that includes the Universal Code of Conduct. I don't mean any offence, but I've noticed it, particularly with some of this site's older editors (and by no means all or even most).

By most means, you're not allowed to deviate from the Universal Code of Conduct, which the Wikimedia Terms of Service engrain. By using Wikivoyage, it is more than reasonable to expect that UCoC is followed (and enforced). Enforcement of the code is what keeps such communities "positive, safe and healthy environments for anyone who joins (and wants to join) them."

However, finally, it's relieving to see the establishment of the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C), which is described on the enforcement guidelines section as a "final recourse in the case of systemic failures by local groups to enforce the UCoC", because that is exactly what this wiki needs – people who understand the policy and sympathize with those affected instead of victim-blaming whilst violating that conduct at the same time. It's the ideal oversight for users who are incapable of keeping up-to-date with WMF policy.
