I understand your sentiments; living close to, but not in, the capital of my own country. However, I was pointing out our external links policy and saying that rather than going to the Visit Cardiff website, readers could be better directed to go to the Wikivoyage Cardiff article before they went to Visit Cardiff - in whatever way you choose to take that statement. - (WT-en) Huttite 13:07, 8 February 2009 (EST)

Spelling mistakes in article names

If you make a spelling mistake in the title of an article, as you did with Petrston-Super-Ely, which should be spelt Peterston-Super-Ely, then you can either move the page, if there is no existing article, or redirect the page, if another article already exists. On reflection, is it a good idea to put all of the towns and villages in the Vale of Glamorgan as sub-sections of the Vale of Glamorganas the 'Vale' is not a very large area?(WT-en) Brianeric 18:24, 14 February 2009 (EST)

Vale of Glamorgan articles

Your enthusiasm for the Vale of Glamorgan seems to know no bounds! This is a good thing. However please consider if every town, village and place in the Vale justifies an article of its own. A good test for having a separate article is - Can I hire accommodation there to sleep a night? - If you can then make the article. This has been my thought, I will 'travel' through each village and if there is nothing of importance I will remove it from the section, in the meantime I will downgrade each village and then either remove or establish its own page. (WT-en) Brianeric 17:40, 14 February 2009 (EST)

Follow article templates

Please use and follow the Wikivoyage article templates. When you create a new article, choose one of the possible templates from the list at the top of the editing form. Please do not drop sections from these templates for a destination because it is not relevant. As a minimum an article must have the following sections:

• Get in
• Get around
• See
• Eat
• Sleep

If you cannot justify those 5 sections, as a minimum, then the location is an attraction, rather than a destination, and should be described in another article. Thus if a village has a pub on the corner and a couple of houses on each street, it only becomes a destination if the pub has bar meals and a bedroom (even if it is the stable) that you can hire by the night, or one of the houses lets out its rooms as a bed and breakfast.

Also, please do not add sections without checking for the standard names for sections first. If you must add a sction, make it a sub-section by putting extra = signs in the section heading, so it drops down into one of the template sections rather than being a new section of its own. - (WT-en) Huttite 12:28, 14 February 2009 (EST)

Peterston-Super-Ely

I note that you have created an article for the village of Peterston-Super-Ely but have not used all of the Small city article template. Since it lacks a Sleep section, this suggests that there is a problem with the village being large enough to justify an article of its own. - (WT-en) Huttite 12:28, 14 February 2009 (EST)

Bristol Channel

The Bristol Channel is a body of water and since you cannot sleep there, unless you want to get wet and drown, we don't normally create destinations for such geographical features. If you want to dispute my opinion please discuss this at Talk:Bristol Channel, as the article could be turned into a region based on a body of water, such as the Bay of Fundy article (that you linked to!) about a New Brunswick, Canada, region. If you then still disagree with the Wikivoyage policy, then that should be discussed at Project:Bodies of water. - (WT-en) Huttite 10:56, 14 February 2009 (EST)

By saying you cannot sleep in the Bristol Channel, unless you get wet and drown implies that when you visit a destination on land you are expecting to sleep on the pavement, (sidewalk). You either provide your own accomodation, whether it be a tent, caravan or boat, or you check into a hotel. (WT-en) Brianeric 14:14, 15 February 2009 (EST)
