User talk:(WT-en) Carsonroen
Hello Carsonroen! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Project:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.
Thanks especially for the work you've been doing on Paris! I should mention though that our standard is to use international numbers for direct mobile phone dialing, which is to say without the (0). Long ago we favored using the local form of phone numbers, but in a long discussion some years ago came to the consensus that it would be better to use the same form everywhere, especially since people would often be dialing from abroad, or using a mobile device which would be better able to dial directly from the page if we were to use the international version.
If you think it's important we can adjust the stylesheet to use the local form of the number for printed pages.
Anyhow, I hope that this doesn't scare you away from contributing. We really need your first-hand info!
thanks!

Please stop Americanising articles
[edit]When you edit Australian articles, please follow Australian spelling and grammar conventions, not American ones. For example, it's "Centre" not "Center" (especially for proper names), we "contact someone on 12345" not "at 12345", and so on. (WT-en) JRG 23:59, 18 May 2008 (EDT)
- Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry if I sounded rude above. Your edits and grammar fixes are much appreciated and sites like this wouldn't function without people like you - so thank you for your edit that you have done. Most of them were really helpful and the Americanis(z)ing was the exception. (WT-en) JRG 08:54, 20 May 2008 (EDT)
Commas between Western and Chinese names
[edit]I noticed that you were adding commas between Western names and Chinese ones, like this:
- Six Harmonies Pagoda, (六和塔 Liùhé Tǎ).
Please don't -- it's the same name, not two different ones. See Project:Romanization for style guidelines. (WT-en) Jpatokal 02:00, 11 June 2008 (EDT)
Carsonroen: hi! I see you've gone through the Vancouver listings like Mary Poppins, fixing up just about every listing. Thank you for all that work! The pages needed it. (WT-en) JimDeLaHunt 02:23, 30 July 2008 (EDT)
