Heyya Evan. Thanks for the hello (boilerplate hell counts as well :)). I briefly checked the guidelines, but wikiway helps even if I mess them up (which I did due to lack of time).

BTW your boilerplate is either containing the "thanks for phoenix and boston" (which is funny, as not everybody edits those), or you deliberately wrote it, in which case it's even more funny, since I don't know anything about these places. :-)

So, I want to talk to you about Hungarian restaurants. I'm wondering if you'd consider moving some of the information to Hungary#Eat, and other parts to the restaurant listings for individual cities. This is an interesting topic, but I think the info is more helpful if it's more localized. You might also want to look at our geographical hierarchy and Project:What is an article?. Don't worry about boilerplates, I (who happen to be the sysop of hu.wikipedia.org) use them as well. The mixup was funny indeed, no harm done.

About the restaurants. It would require time to get familiar with the expected organising of the facts, so I gladly accept your lead to specify what should go where. I believe all this content should not be included in Hungary#Eat, mainly because the list could get really long and this is probably not good for the main Hungary article.

Localisation is great idea, I'll move them into their respective cities. My only problem here is with the local names: as you see, they contain accents, and I can't give you english counterparts. Should I drop the accents (Write Pecs instead of Pécs, which is an acceptable way)? I checked the hierarchy back then, but it wasn't clear whether this refers to the inner structure of an article or the organisation of the names of the articles. Now I know it was about the latter. Hi. I just stumbled across Hungarian restaurants, was the content ever moved to Hungary#Eat? If so, I'll add the restaurant page to the Project:Votes for deletion since it users might get confused if they find it via search or Random Page. Deletion of Hungarian restaurants

Grin: I noticed your post on Maj's talk page, and I had a few comments. First, I wanted to let you know that it's very common on Wikivoyage to delete content that we think doesn't get us towards our goals. On occasion, we also delete whole articles; we have a deletion policy that has more info on how and when we delete articles. The whole Wikivoyage community has a chance to have input on deletions, in the votes for deletion area.

As for Hungarian restaurants: it doesn't fit in with our ideas of what an article is (see Project:What is an article?). No information you posted was lost; most of it was moved to Hungary#Eat (although up until a few minutes ago it was mis-filed under Hungary#Drink). Most of the listings should be moved to the individual city pages, though. --(WT-en) Evan 13:32, 5 Oct 2004 (EDT)

As you may have noticed the article was created more than a year ago, and I would guess "what is an article" did not quite exist (or was not quite visible) back then. If the contents were saved then everything's allright, but it sounded like it wasn't. But as you may have noticed I still couldn't resist updating some info. :) Oh well. Hi, you might want to check out http://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/wiki/wiki.phtml?title=Wikivoyage:Votes_for_deletion&oldid=21566 which shows the four votes it took to delete that page and the reasons. This was quite a while ago, but I'd be really surprised if any info was lost-- we're always looking to contributions and we always try to fit them in however we can! Special characters in image filenames

Unfortunately, WT's installation of Mediawiki is incapable of handling any characters outside the standard Latin set in image filenames — see wts:WtTech:Image thumbnail not shown if filename contains special characters for the bug report. Even more unfortunately, only the actual server administrators (Internet Brands) can fix the problem, and they haven't done anything about it in the years since the bug arose. At this time, the only workaround is to avoid accented and non-Latin characters entirely in filenames. — (WT-en) D. Guillaime 18:05, 9 January 2011 (EST)
