User talk:(WT-en) Herbythyme
Hello Herbythyme! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.
If you need help, check out Project:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.
If you are a Wikipedian, or have previously used Wikipedia, then you may notice some differences in the style of our articles. These include:
- Village pump → travellers' pub
- be bold → plunge forward
- NPOV → be fair (not quite the same thing!)
- sandbox → graffiti wall
- stub notes → Article status notes
- External links → We do not use a separate external links section, but incorporate primary links only into the text itself.
Thanks for contributing! --(WT-en) Peter Talk 06:43, 7 January 2008 (EST)
Open proxies & spam
[edit]Forgive my ignorance of other wikis—I actually don't know what an admin board is! Wikivoyage historically has had a strong preference for soft security, but there has been recent talk of banning open proxies wholesale, and there is a lot of openness to change in our current policies on this issue, as we are far from a community consensus. If you have suggestions for handling this type of spam, that might be the best place to raise them. Other good places would be Project:How to handle unwanted edits and, of course, the pub. Depending on what you have in mind, Project:User ban nominations may also be a useful page to take a look at. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 23:28, 7 January 2008 (EST)
