User talk:(WT-en) Karen Johnson
Karen: You rock. Go crazy, get as much information in as possible. As with Wikipedia, the worst thing that can happen is someone else edits it down. B-) I think we're still trying to find direction with Wikivoyage, so you can help shape what "fits" here and what doesn't. My vision -- and Maj's -- is to make a Wiki-edited world-wide travel guide. We want to make something that you could print a few pages of when you're visiting a new city, or print a few "sections" of when you're going to Vietnam or Madagascar for the first time. Or, y'know, just check online when your hotel reservations get cancelled and you don't know where to sleep that night. We have tried to state our goals as best we can, but you can help clear that up. I started a Welcome, Wikipedians article, but it'd be great to get some feedback/help/editing/addition from you. Again, thanks for coming by. -- (WT-en) Evan 22:01, 5 Aug 2003 (PDT)
Thanks for the welcome, Karen. I really like this concept and hope to God that it can avoid the vandalism that has been a curse on wikipedia. As for Australia, it is our ambition to explore as much of it as we can but not from a trophy point of view. Next winter we will be going back to Darwin for the third time. The atmosphere, scenery and heavenly winter climate of NT is a balm to the soul of us Wellingtonians. You do live in a lucky, lovely country. And so do we. (WT-en) Tiles 01:33, 6 Aug 2003 (PDT)
Hey Karen - Nice to see you still need a wiki fix once in a while. :) --(WT-en) Maveric149
Hi Karen, thanks for your message on my talk page. I hope to contribute a little about your country since I've spent a year of my life there. See you around. Cheers. (WT-en) D.D. 05:18, 9 Aug 2003 (PDT)
KJ: Do you have the time/energy to take on the job of helping to admin Wikivoyage? I'd like to nominate you. -- (WT-en) Evan 08:50, 13 Aug 2003 (PDT)
- Sure, if you think I can be of help! I don't have a job so I spend a LOT of time twiddling around on my computer each day (as you've probably noticed) My major self-imposed 'job' as admin on the wikipedia was pruning the junk and removing vandalism. There isn't a whole lot of that here (thank goodness) but it's probably not always going to be that way. (WT-en) KJ
- Cool! Well, I just nominated you. I asked a couple of questions, too. -- (WT-en) Evan 06:13, 14 Aug 2003 (PDT)
Wow! You were just in Yosemite? Are you in the US right now? Maj and I have been in the Nevada desert (with User:(WT-en) Yosemite, no less) for a week, then I've been in San Francisco. Leaving today for Montreal by moving van; should be fun. -- (WT-en) Evan 07:22, 9 Sep 2003 (PDT)
- No alas! I was there earlier this year in April/May/June, before this project started :) But since I've never travelled outside Australia before, it seems like 'just there' to me! I'll be back again for good next year, immigration department willing :) (WT-en) KJ
Hey Karen! Sorry about not responding to your message. Things are hectic and stuff. I could probably give some input about the area around Yosemite (Sonora Pass, Lee Vining, Mono Lake, etc.), but not much on the park itself (I've actually only been in the park a couple of times.) Hmmm, I should probably even take a look at that now. :) (WT-en) Yosemite 08:39, 1 Oct 2003 (PDT)
Administrator status
[edit]So, according to the administrator policy we have, people who don't use Wikivoyage for 3 months have the admin flag taken off their account. This is a security measure -- having unused accounts with high privileges is a security risk. I've just unmarked your account. Let me know if you have a problem with this. --(WT-en) Evan 12:08, 19 Jan 2004 (EST)
