Hello Mimmo46!

Welcome to Wikivoyage. Please take a sec to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you need help, check out Project:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.

If you wish to play, please do it on the Graffiti wall.

Please also read our advice about External links, Bodies of water, First person pronouns, What is an article, Project:Cooperating with Wikipedia and also be aware that the content from Wikipedia and other website should not be copied into Wikivoyage articles.

Oh! and thanks for starting Ischia. -- (WT-en) Huttite 20:27, 2 Dec 2005 (EST)

Contributions

[edit]

Hi Mimmo46, thank you for contributing!

A number of contributions appear to be the same content as http://www.appartamentiischia.it. This is acceptible if you own the copyright and intend to contribute a copy of the content to be used by us using our copyright license. Before we can accept these contributions, we need you to explicit claim that a) you own the copyright and b) you intend to contribute it under our license. The content can be easily restored if you can make these assurances to us.

Secondly, please check out our external link policy. While we do link to hotel websites when describing a particular hotel's contact info, there are many things we do not link to including travel guides. It will possibly save you some time.

Hi, Mimmo, you need to read the Wikivoyage policy on Project:External links --(WT-en) elgaard 07:53, 5 Dec 2005 (EST)

Main Page

[edit]

You need to read the Project:Main Page guidelines before adding more places to the Main Page. -- (WT-en) Huttite 20:04, 10 Dec 2005 (EST)

Ischia

[edit]

Your enthusiasm for promoting Ischia would do the local tourist board proud. I hope they compensate you in some way. However, the Ischia article is in great need of improvement. Before the article could be put on the front page, it really needs articles for all the towns and the other destinations to be started. Also a lot of the information needs to be pushed down into those articles, rather than being left on the Ischia page. Also, considering that most of the article is your own work, your promotion of this page is open to ethical challenges. When the Ischia article becomes a top quality article, it is almost certain that it will be put on the Main Page without you needing to do so. Keep working at it. -- (WT-en) Huttite 20:20, 10 Dec 2005 (EST)

Image:IslandofCapri.jpg

[edit]

The Image:IslandofCapri.jpg does not have an explicit copyright release that is required by the Project:Image policy, which you should have read when the image was uploaded. Unreleased images will be deleted. Can you please add an explicit copyright release to all images you upload. The release note should identify the source of the image (Your own personal photo?), date (e.g. year) it was taken and any release conditions, such as CC-by-SA, public domain, etc. -- (WT-en) Huttite 08:22, 6 Jan 2006 (EST)

Image Copyrights

[edit]

Each and every image you upload needs to be marked with copyright information. See Project:Image policy. Unless you correct this, we will have no choice but to nominate all the images for deletion! Please help us out here. Each image should have (a) a description of who took the picture (b) the copyright year of the image (c) who owns the copyright for the picture and (d) an explicit acknowledgement that the image is being contributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 1.0. -- (WT-en) Colin 17:01, 6 Jan 2006 (EST)

Main page

[edit]

Please see the Project:Main Page guidelines for a discussion of why Naples can't be used there (yet!). Rome is OK, but per the policy it should be placed at the beginning of the list, and the last city Budapest bumped off. I've made these changes, feel free to discuss if you have any questions. Thanks for the contribution. -- (WT-en) Ryan 12:55, 26 February 2006 (EST)

More Main Page

[edit]

Hi! Thanks for all the great work you've done on various Italian destinations. However would you mind terribly taking a glance at the main page guidelines. Also the Project:Manual of style might make a good read. -- (WT-en) Mark 04:18, 27 February 2006 (EST)

I can only second this in response to why I removed Ischia. It's had a lot of good work on it lately, but still has a way to go before meeting the Manual of Style. Also, please sign your posts on talk page with '~~~~' . Keep up the good work! (WT-en) Jonboy 08:40, 27 February 2006 (EST)

Mimmo, I would suggest that when we undo something you have done, please figure out how to communicate with us about it rather than just redoing the thing -- at least until you have a better idea of how we do things around here. Second, when you clicked "edit" on the main page you might have noticed a large message saying "PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE EDITING THE MAIN PAGE". Please go ahead and read the message before editing the main page. You will find further instructions on stuff like how to add things to the main page, and what to add to the main page. If you don't understand what's going on, ask and communicate so that we can help you. -- (WT-en) Colin 15:22, 27 February 2006 (EST)

Ok thanks for all, I thinks really thath Ischia page is good for stay in main page, I have need a little time for adjust it as suggest Project:Manual of style; also hope in contribute of others wikivoyage's user. -- (WT-en) Mimmo46 10:20, 28 February 2006 (EST)

Ischia seems really nice, but the page needs some work before it's an exemplary article. I'll try to help. -- (WT-en) Mark 05:42, 28 February 2006 (EST)

Map

[edit]

Hi! That's a very pretty map, but unfortunately there are a couple of problems:

  1. I can't read the text. It would be much better if you could upload the original vector version of the map (preferably) in SVG format. You did draw the map yourself, right?
  2. You did draw the map yourself right? If not where is it from, who owns the copyright, and what license are you contributing it under?

I would like to see the article on Ischia become a "star", but just uploading a map isn't enough especially if you don't have the copyright or a license to the map. The biggest thing that needs to be done as far as I can see is for a native speaker of English to go through all of the text for grammar and style. -- (WT-en) Mark 09:22, 8 March 2006 (EST)

Thanks for all, If you or another wikivoyage user can correct text is better. (WT-en) Mimmo46 09:31, 8 March 2006 (EST)

I intend to do it one of these days, but it does look like I'll have to set aside a pretty big chunk of time since there's so much good info in there.
Still I'm concerned about the copyright of the map. It's from here, right? Did they grant you permission to use it under the terms of the CC by-sa? If so I can use it as the basis for a Wikivoyage map, otherwise I can't. -- (WT-en) Mark 09:37, 8 March 2006 (EST)

Yes, I'm owner of this site here; you can provide to use for wikivoyage map -- (WT-en) Mimmo46

Cool! That's great. Hey, so do you offer a discount at the hotel for Wikivoyages who do a lot of work on the article. ;) -- (WT-en) Mark 09:52, 8 March 2006 (EST)
Sure with great pleasure if you make a good job -- (WT-en) Mimmo46
