Welcome

[edit]

Welcome to Wikivoyage. Please take a second to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you need help, check out Project:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.

And... could you stop inserting your username into articles? :) - (WT-en) Todd VerBeek 13:36, 24 July 2006 (EDT)

Sorry! How do I get credit? (WT-en) Don Lewis
There is no particular "getting credit" except that your username will appear (automagically) in the list at the bottom of every article you save changes on. Its the section that covers the SA 1.0 licensing. -- (WT-en) Ilkirk 13:59, 24 July 2006 (EDT)

Thanks!! New here!!! Young Padua learner. :>.

A couple of other small things to learn - Using a colon : will indent your text block. The more colons, the more idention... to a point that I don't recall. And to sign your text blocks on talk pages, use ~~~~. Leave that, save the page, and automagically you'll have left a link to your account and the timestamp.
Thanks for taking the time to learn about WikiTravel. We all look forward to your contributions. And please feel free to ask plenty of questions... -- (WT-en) Ilkirk 14:20, 24 July 2006 (EDT)
Thanks. (WT-en) NEOhioguide 14:28, 24 July 2006 (EDT)

Just a bit of encouragement from a former Northeast Ohio-er - the Ashtabula County article is coming along nicely. Good work so far! -- (WT-en) Ryan 14:56, 25 July 2006 (EDT)

Thanks, Can anyone tell me how to code an image to size and fit the way I want? The Photo in the Dalton, OH article is to large and I would like it to be to the right of the text. (WT-en) NEOhioguide 08:46, 26 July 2006 (EDT)
Looks like you figured it out. By the way, I put the "Drink" section header back in; if there are no bars in Dalton, it's a good idea to say so in the article, rather than letting it just look like no one's bothered to list any. - (WT-en) Todd VerBeek 09:26, 26 July 2006 (EDT)

Hi - could you please specify the source of Image:Usmap-Sippo-daltonmap.gif by editing the image page and adding a comment about where it came from? We tend to be a bit paranoid about copyright around here, so generally if an image looks like it came from a source other than someone's digital camera and no attribution is given the image is usually deleted. See Project:Copyleft for details. Thanks! -- (WT-en) Ryan 13:48, 27 July 2006 (EDT)

Docent

[edit]

A docent is a person that willingly answers questions from travellers who may have a question about a destination. For example, if you look at the Cincinnati guide, which is also my hometown. I've signed up to become a docent and answer any questions anyone has about Cincinnati or upcoming events.

If you look under the search bar there is a section called "destination docents" and list anyone who has signed up for that position. If you're interested all you have to do is place {{docent|NEOhioguide}} at the very bottom of Wayne County page. -- (WT-en) Andrew H. (Sapphire) 19:31, 30 October 2006 (EST)

Sapphire I did it, not sure if it worked but I guess I'm the Wayne County docent. (WT-en) NEOhioguide 19:40, 30 October 2006 (EST)
Yeah, it worked - I can see it. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Also, when you reply to a comment you should always precede the comment with a colon (:) that way people can keep track of the comments and who wrote what. -- (WT-en) Andrew H. (Sapphire) 19:52, 30 October 2006 (EST)

We generally try to minimize external links by linking only to primary sites - see Project:External links. I've removed the links to the turnhere.com films, but please discuss on Project:External links if you feel that they should be included. -- (WT-en) Ryan 20:59, 13 November 2006 (EST)
