Welcome

[edit]

Hello, PrVacationRental! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Project:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.

The above text is the standard Wikivoyage welcome. If you have any questions feel free to ask on Talk:Rincón (as you have been doing), or if you have general questions they can be asked on this talk page or in the Pub. Other editors may leave you messages on this page, in which case you'll see a blinking red dot in the top corner of your screen - typically you can just respond on this page. Thanks for your updates to Rincón! -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 17:33, 8 October 2010 (EDT)

I will ask and thanks for ALL, now I see how some things work..and sorry about not understanding the Summery Box...I will do it any further updates..Thanks and sorry for being a pain in the butt..when I started..--(WT-en) prVacationRental 23:34, 8 October 2010 (EDT)

I read a couple stories about starting articals, Its kinda like..just jump in there and start typing..but..I kind of have to see the page before I type something on it..if you know what I mean..You told me when theres a town listed in red, there is no page made for it yet.. http://en.wikivoyage.org/w/index.php?title=Aguada&action=edit, Aguada is the next town to the north, with some really good restaurants, and in processes of building a boardwalk and marina. There is a bunch that were built in hopes of revenue from the marina. The question is can you set up the page to look like the others, I will look for a great pict of the plaza there or something.. Did you know that every town in Puerto Rico, has its own plaza(town square).--(WT-en) prVacationRental 01:11, 9 October 2010 (EDT)

Wikivoyage has a standard set of templates for new articles. When creating a new article there will be a line that reads "To start, please click on one of the following links to pre-fill this article with the standard sections". Just click the appropriate link (usually "City") and the edit box will be pre-filled with the appropriate template. I've sadly only been through the airport in Puerto Rico, but will hopefully make it there for a longer visit some day. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 01:56, 9 October 2010 (EDT)

Thanks for the info..just made it..and will fill it in soon..I know you have been a helper to me, So, I got another question..Question 1 after I finished the edit on Rincón, someone posted a internet marketer listing website in multiple parts..how do I undo it to my last edit? I know where I went to the History, and there are 3 additions, to my last edit...Do I have to click the undo, button on all 3 and put a memo, or do I click just one and put a memo in summery? Or just delete them all at once and put a memo in? --(WT-en) prVacationRental 11:16, 9 October 2010 (EDT)

Rincon Vacations is a rental listing site.. and Rincon Life is a blog, Question 2 I dont think a blog would be good since everyone would be putting their blogs on here, does that seem fair.. Quest 3 To be fair and not bias in here... If there is a site that has merit to be listed on WT, valuable information for a traveler, are they allowed to have more ads on their web site than information for a tourist, for the most part legitimate sites do not have ads or many..if im explaining it correctly, just from my own experience. --(WT-en) prVacationRental 11:34, 9 October 2010 (EDT)

Responses:
  1. I've removed all edits by this user as it appears they put tour listings on about ten different articles, and Wikivoyage should not be used for advertising. If you ever want to undo an edit yourself there are a few different ways to do so - see Project:How to revert a page for details.
  2. Links to blogs aren't allowed - see Project:External links for the reasoning.
  3. Links to other travel guides aren't allowed - see Project:External links for the reasoning. We used to allow such links but there were problems with spamming, inconsistency, and people adding links instead of information so that is no longer allowed.
The external links policy can be a bit confusing, so if after reading it you still have questions please ask. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 13:08, 9 October 2010 (EDT)

What about this, the last one in Budget?.. * Vista Vacation Resort, tel: +1 787 823-3673, (toll free: +1 866 958-4782 mailto:email@vistapr.com), http://vistapr.com/. It points to a welcome page hon host monster.. Before I delete it.. I think im catching onto what WT is all about..the more I read things..I know I can delete this one...but If there were one in Question..that is where the Consensus comes in...I cant just make a judgment call, its a voting thing... --(WT-en) prVacationRental 11:00, 10 October 2010 (EDT)

Deleting old discussions

[edit]

Ryan, quick question, can I delete ..What To Do With a Eraser on WikiTravel... on the discussion board, since you answered all my questions, it is just getting to be to long for me..But I do want to keep some of the hyperlinks in there and I'm going to move them to my talk page so I can quick reference them, If and when I need them..thanks..--(WT-en) prVacationRental 14:27, 15 October 2010 (EDT)

Standard practice is that discussions shouldn't be deleted - they are part of the article history and will help others. See Project:Using talk pages. To keep things better organized, however, if a discussion is about a new topic (and not a continuation of a previous discussion), instead of clicking on the "edit" link next to an existing heading, click on the "+" tab at the top of the page, which will add a new discussion section. -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 15:26, 15 October 2010 (EDT)

Thanks.. I laughed when I was reading the Project:Using talk pagesgot down to where it says, Etiquette,# perfectly OK, though, to change something you wrote on a talk page, for any reason. If you made spelling or grammatical errors, feel free to change them. # If, in the heat of the moment, you said something you regret, go ahead and change that, too. I sometime went back and corrected my spelling..thank god thats OK..But the http://meatballwiki.org/wiki/ForgiveAndForget ..page had me laughin....But on a serious note..if I were to click the + that opens a new discussion title and all, but does it locate it at the bottom automatically, Cause I know it says POST NEW posts at the bottom.. So much to read.. Hey did you ever read the Artical on Animal rescue from the board http://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Talk:Rinc%C3%B3n#What_To_Do_With_a_Eraser_on_WikiTravel, Im not good at the brackets around an object for hyperlinks.. cause I dont understand what word I have to put inside to point to the correct page..--(WT-en) prVacationRental 17:07, 15 October 2010 (EDT)
