User talk:(WT-en) Sterio
Hello, Sterio! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Project:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 10:19, 20 July 2011 (EDT)
- It is really a bit late to welcome you, but thanks for your excellent recent work at Pattani. Please keep it up.--(WT-en) Burmesedays 10:19, 20 July 2011 (EDT)
- Thanks! Always good to be made feel welcome :-)
- Although I've made some edits before, that was 3 years ago and they weren't very many, so I feel quite new at this. Used to be a very active editor of the Icelandic Wikipedia, but I haven't been active there for ages either and of course the projects are quite different. But I stayed in Pattani for a while recently and thought I should try to share what I know about the place, since there (understandably) aren't too many people who make their way there. --(WT-en) Sterio 10:52, 20 July 2011 (EDT)
Map of Iceland
[edit]Many thanks for your message! I have copied it and my replies to Talk:Iceland#Map_of_Iceland. Much appreciated. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 06:18, 24 July 2011 (EDT)
- Thanks from me as well - pinning down borders and identifying cities is a surprisingly difficult task for Iceland, so any local knowledge is hugely appreciated. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 12:15, 24 July 2011 (EDT)
- Glad to help :)
- I've noticed that outside the main article there's relatively little information on most destinations in Iceland, so I've been doing some work on South Iceland today, and may move on to other regions and towns as well if I have the time. Although I try my best to make it Wikivoyage-ish and in accordance to the Manual of Style, I'm pretty sure it's not all completely by the book, so please feel free to take a look and fix any problems you see! --(WT-en) sterio 13:46, 24 July 2011 (EDT)
Iceland
[edit]Great work on Reykjavik and other Iceland articles! One small thing: please notice that museums should go in See and not in Do, --(WT-en) ClausHansen 19:31, 27 July 2011 (EDT)
- Thanks, I'll fix that. Assume it goes for both history and art museums, right? This distinction between See and Do is quite difficult, in my opinion - I thought the idea was that See should only be the "sights" of a place, as in what you'd do on a sight-seeing tour, rather than for what are essentially visual activities (like going to museums). But of course going to a museum is essentially "seeing", because mainly you walk around using your eyes... --(WT-en) sterio 04:49, 28 July 2011 (EDT)
- What goes in See and Do respectively is one of the longest running sagas at WT :). The "bible" for such matters is Project:Where you can stick it. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 04:58, 28 July 2011 (EDT)
Just want to compliment you for some nice work on the Icelandic articles! --(WT-en) globe-trotter 06:44, 21 September 2011 (EDT)
- Thanks! :) --(WT-en) sterio 11:21, 21 September 2011 (EDT)
