User talk:171.99.189.241
Hello, 171.99.189.241! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Wikivoyage:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.
By the way, have you considered creating an account here? While you can absolutely keep contributing as an anonymous user, it promises a bunch of benefits, and no obligations.--ϒpsilon (talk) 08:28, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hi there. It's obvious that you don't agree with some of the comments posted to this page, as well as with some of the content in articles. While improvements to articles are most welcome, this community does not tolerate name-calling or abusive language towards other editors. Please try to refrain from adding dismissive comments to your edits and edit warring, as they will likely end in a user ban. Keep in mind that for many editors (including me) English is a second or third language. We welcome their contributions, even when they are not written in great grammar and style. I do hope you'll stick around to help improve our articles. Best, JuliasTravels (talk) 09:43, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
- Hi - thanks for the message. I've deleted a number of aggressive, offensive and abusive comments from the same person, and I responded in a similar way. From a review of the person's edits, and comments from others, this person has a significant history of being arrogant and high-handed to others, and doing their best to drive away people from editing.
- Thanks for responding. It's sometimes hard to judge meaning and tone online. We are probably all occasionally guilty of reacting to new editors in a way that might frustrate them. However, don't take all talk page messages too seriously. Wikivoyagers who do a lot of recent changes patrol also deal with touts, vandals and other non-constructive new users on a regular basis. You might find reality to be more laid-back than you think now. In any case, let's just get back to the content :-) If you're thinking of participating more often, do consider a user name. It's quite handy to have a watchlist, and follow articles you're interested in. Best, JuliasTravels (talk) 22:56, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
- Hi - thanks for the reply. The individual in question has a consistent history of arrogance and high-handedness, and antagonising new editors. It's rather clear he wants to chase away new comers so that certain pages on Wikivoyage are only his content & views. For example he promptly reverts or changes virtually every edit to many pages related to SE Asia. He's killing Wikivoyage.

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet, or who does not use it. We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify them. Such an IP address can be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user and feel that irrelevant comments have been directed at you, please create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users.
