User talk:74.96.153.48
Hello 74.96.153.48! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.
If you are a Wikipedian, then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:
- NPOV → be fair (not quite the same thing!)
- be bold → plunge forward
- Village pump → travellers' pub
- External links → We do not use a separate external links section, but incorporate primary links only into the text itself.
- sandbox → graffiti wall
- stub tagging → article status
It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Wikivoyage:Help, or else post a message in the Wikivoyage:Travellers' pub, as a reply below or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing!
Thanks for your edits to Bogotá. I kept your update of the population, but I deleted the long block of text you added to the lede (see this link if you'd like to copy anything from that). The lede should briefly tell readers why they should want to travel to Bogotá. If you think it's essential to add anything to the lede, please edit the existing lede instead of adding an entirely new additional one. Some things to keep in mind, though, are that more detailed information that's nevertheless likely to be interesting or useful to travelers should be in the "Understand" section, so check what's already there and see if anything should be added or updated. But there are also some details about cities that are encyclopedic, and those belong in Wikipedia, not in a travel guide.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks and all the best,

- I edited down the lede greatly - click this link. Going on and on and on in the lede is much less interesting to read than a short statement that mentions several highlights. If you disagree strongly with my edit, please start a discussion on the Talk:Bogotá page and don't just restore the mountain of text with lots of repetition that was there before. Thanks very much. - Thank you for letting me know what should be in the intrdoctuion. I did worry it was a bit too long. I think I am still going to include some details and interesting in the Understand, eat, and see sections, as they might convince more people to visit.
- Likewise, thank you for taking the time to review my edit. I appreciate it! 2600:4040:2A94:4000:4479:7D1:8CA0:3815 01:24, 13 December 2022 (UTC)

- Thank you. I appreciate your cooperation and also your local expertise. Keep in mind that the reason we divided coverage of Bogotá into districts is that we don't want an overwhelming amount of information to be in the Bogotá article. So you might want to check the existing descriptions in the various district articles and see if there's anything that needs to be updated, deleted or added to them.
