Hello, BradSmith2017! Thank you for contributing to Wikivoyage, but please note that one or more of your recent edits has been reverted as it appeared to be an attempt to use this site to advertise or promote a business or service. Wikivoyage is created by travellers for travellers, and while business owners and employees are welcome to contribute, use of this site for promotional purposes is not allowed.

If you feel that your edits were incorrectly identified as promotional, please read Wikivoyage's guidelines on identifying promotional edits. If, after reading that guideline, you still feel your edits were incorrectly removed, please use this talk page or the talk page of the article where your edit was removed to explain why your change was not promotional. Note that it is very important that you discuss your proposed change before re-adding it since repeated promotional edits can lead to a temporary block of your account's ability to edit Wikivoyage, and in serious cases the business in question may be blacklisted from Wikivoyage.

As for Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort, it's obviously not in Abu Dhabi city and doesn't belong in the article for the city; instead, it's already in the Liwa Oasis article. I will integrate relevant information into its preexisting listing. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:39, 20 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Al Ruwais listing

[edit]

Hello. The listing below was posted to the Abu Dhabi guide. I think you've misunderstood that guide as being for the entire emirate. It is only for Abu Dhabi City. Al Ruwais has its own guide, which is where it would make most sense to list a resort that's in Sir Bani Yas Island, since there is no article for the island, but based on the address you provide, it would appear to be closer to Al Ruwais than any other place for which there is a Wikivoyage article (if that's not true, it should be put in whichever other article covers the nearest town, or the town from which a ferry leaves, or some other logical choice). If you're reading your user talk page, you will see my critique of your listing, edit it accordingly, and copy it to the Al Ruwais article. If not, you will probably be blocked next time.

  • 1 Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Resorts, P.O. Box 12452, Al Ruwais, Sir Bani Yas Island (Located just 8 kilometers off the Abu Dhabi Emirates in the Sir Bani Yas Island), +971 2 801 5400, . Resort is Located on the Sir Bani Yas nature reserve island and famous for it's wildlife safaris and adventures. Starting from $ 220.

Critiques:

(1) P.O. Boxes are not listed as addresses, as the point of listing an address on this site is for the physical location of the resort to be easy for travellers to locate. If there is no street address, the lat/long are quite sufficient.

(2) In "directions", what you should state is that it's in Sir Bani Yas Island, and you should explain how to get there from Al Ruwais. "Located just 8 kilometers," etc., is unexplanatory.

(3) "Content" is slightly touty (I'd delete "adventures", which is non-specific; everyone pretty much understands what a safari is) but not bad. However, please try to use normal capitalization.

To sum up: The listing is not bad, except that useful directions need to be provided, and it needs to be copied to Al Ruwais. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:56, 24 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Sir Bani Yas Island

[edit]

Hello again, BradSmith2017. Did you read WV:What is an article? If not, please read it.

Articles need more information than just a hotel listing. How do you get to the island? That goes in the "Get in" section. What is there to see on the island? That goes in "See". What is there to do on the island, and perhaps just offshore? That goes in "Do". How big is the island and what interesting or useful background might prospective visitors want to know? That belongs in "Understand" or perhaps just in the lede at the top of the article. Is it small enough to walk around, or is some form of transportation necessary to go between far-flung parts of the island? That belongs in "Get around". And is there anyplace to eat or drink (other than the one listing in "Sleep": If they also serve food and drink, that information should be included in their "Sleep" listing)? Anything to buy? The danger is that with no or almost no useful information in the article, there isn't much of an argument for keeping it, and it will probably be merged with some other article (which, I'm not sure) if it isn't developed. If you know anything about the island other than that a resort exists there, please add that content in the appropriate sections. Thanks a lot. Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:55, 25 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
