Hello Doncram! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.

If you are a Wikipedian then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:

It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Wikivoyage:Help, or else post a message in the travellers' pub or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing!

I've restored the United Airlines article to a redirect since you indicated your rationale for changing it was that the redirect seemed to be undiscussed, which was not the case - see Wikivoyage:Votes for deletion/January 2013#US Airways, United Airlines. I've also changed the redirect target to Flying since the "By plane" section of the USA article was removed. If you're interested in writing about aviation topics please do so! -- Ryan (talk) 23:50, 26 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Ryan for the welcome and your explanation. I am indeed new here, while i have a lot of experience in the English Wikipedia. Following your example, i just redirected American Airlines to Flying as well. There was/is no Talk page for United Airlines, and no indication that there had been a deletion/redirect discussion. Should there be a note there, or how else can one find their way to past discussions that are relevant? In English Wikipedia there are lapses but usually the Talk page gives notices of past deletion discussions. Perhaps there is a "WikiVoyages for Wikipedians" guideline that I should find and read first. Whether you can comment on this further or not, thanks again for your welcome. --Doncram (talk) 00:01, 27 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
The Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians page contains info that may be helpful to you. Normally if a page is deleted or redirected the relevant discussion (or at least a pointer to it) is put on the talk page, but that seems to have been overlooked in this instance. Like Wikipedia, this site is run by volunteers without a rigid delegation of responsibility, so while things usually end up getting sorted out it can sometimes be a bit chaotic along the way. -- Ryan (talk) 00:14, 27 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
