User talk:Haroldok
Hello Haroldok! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.
If you are a Wikipedian then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:
- NPOV → be fair (not quite the same thing!)
- be bold → plunge forward
- Village pump → travellers' pub
- External links → We do not use a separate external links section, but incorporate primary links only into the text itself.
- sandbox → graffiti wall
- stub tagging → Article status
It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Wikivoyage:Help, or else post a message in the travellers' pub or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing!
Your contributions to the article about Silay are much appreciated, but please put yourself in the shoes of a visitor. Would a visitor care how many barangays are in the city (if they even know what a barangay is)? Would they care how many schools are in town? And please don't edit war. If you don't like the way I or anyone else edits the article, please state your objections at Talk:Silay, so that we can discuss the best style and content for the article. Thanks a lot.
Best,

- I also recommend for you to look at the Talk:Silay page, because I made some "cleanup" edits to the article and explain the reasons for them on that page, as well as in shorter edit summaries in the article's history. Wikivoyage is significantly different from Wikipedia and non-Wiki sites, and for everyone (including me when I was new here), there's a learning curve. We will be happy to work with you on how best to present and structure what we hope is non-copyvio information that you are supplying within Wikivoyage style, guidelines and policies. All we'd ask is for you to work with us.
- Thanks again.
