Hello Planemad! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.

If you are a Wikipedian then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:

It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Project:Help, or else post a message in the travellers' pub or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing! I've moved Rakkar to Dharamsala#See. --Saqib (talk) 14:36, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Saqib, thanks for the welcome :) I currently live in Rakkar and plan to document the attractions and sights in much more detail with photographs. The Dharamshala article is more about Mcleodganj rather than the lower part which is a world of its own. What do you suggest be done? --Planemad (talk) 15:22, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think Rakkar is a small village so I doubt if there'll be enough content for it to stand on its own article, but its good to see that you've started the article in your user-space. Expand it. --Saqib (talk) 15:32, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, its a small village but it has enough material to warrant its own article. For now, I'll push stuff to User:Planemad/Rakkar --Planemad (talk) 16:14, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please confirm whether Rakkar is situated inside Kangra district? --Saqib (talk) 18:51, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
yup, its in Kangra District--Planemad (talk) 18:53, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed you've changed the name from Rakkar to Sidhbari. I'm wondering if which one is correct. --Saqib (talk) 16:58, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I realized that Sidhbari which is the main bazaar village on the highway is historically important [1] and deserves priority over Rakkar. Rakkar is tiny hamlet 1km up the road from Sidhbari and can be considered a part of Sidhbari. See Map. I will be rewriting the article with the focus on Sidhbari --Planemad (talk) 17:28, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Saqib, I have rewritten most of the article. Could you move the article now to Sidhbari if it looks like its in decent shape? --Planemad (talk) 10:03, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes Done. --Saqib (talk) 06:16, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you :)--Planemad (talk) 14:53, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Planemad. I greatly appreciate your edits, and I regret having to delete some of your helpful links, but the links in destination articles have to conform to the policy laid out at external links#what not to link to. It is sometimes quite inconvenient to work within that policy, but there are reasons for the restrictions laid out there. If you'd like to propose changes to Wikivoyage's external links policy, please have a look at previous discussion at Wikivoyage talk:External links and suggest some new guidelines. Please don't be discouraged, and keep contributing. All the best, Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:48, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No issues, I was planning to rewrite the info from the links in the article :) --Planemad (talk) 05:49, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
