User talk:Una giornata uggiosa '94
Hello Una giornata uggiosa '94! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.
If you are a Wikipedian then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:
- NPOV → be fair (not quite the same thing!)
- be bold → plunge forward
- Village pump → travellers' pub
- External links → We do not use a separate external links section, but incorporate primary links only into the text itself.
- sandbox → graffiti wall
- stub tagging → Article status
It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Wikivoyage:Help, or else post a message in the travellers' pub or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing! --ϒpsilon (talk) 18:05, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
Links to Wikipedia
[edit]Thanks for your great work!
One Wikivoyage guideline that's frustrated many people is that inline links to Wikipedia are not used. Links to Wikipedia are used for the name of the article and can be used in fields in listing templates and marker templates, but not in prose. The reason why someone would want to use them is obvious - to provide an easy link to more information. The reasons not to permit them include: (1) Wikivoyage has a different style and different goals than Wikipedia, so we do not provide encyclopedic articles with references or loads of subject links here; (2) linking to Wikipedia can in some cases discourage editors from working on travel-related content here, as there are encyclopedic and travel-relevant ways of focusing on various topics, such as styles of art, cuisines, even roads; (3) if we allow inline Wikipedia links, how do we establish clear guidelines on what can and can't be linked? Part of the issue with Wikivoyage is that we have a limited number of editors, so unfortunately, making things a bit less work-intensive for people doing recent changes patrols is a consideration.
All the best,

- @Ikan Kekek: OK, no problem! --Una giornata uggiosa '94 (talk) 20:11, 10 October 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for being so understanding. Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:42, 10 October 2018 (UTC)
- I'm sorry for having to revert some edits you made; they are surely well-meaning and skillfully done. However, they break some of our Manual of Style's policies. For easier reading on mobile devices, we don't align them to the left; galleries and composite images are not allowed. I hope you can understand and edit accordingly. Thanks for your contributions to the page. Ibaman (talk) 23:58, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
