- See also: Special:Protectedpages and Wikivoyage:Protected page policy
This is a list of protected pages on Wikivoyage. Administrators who protect a page should list it here with the reason it was protected, so that others can see the reasons and comment.
A fully protected page can be edited only by administrators. Semi-protected pages can be edited by any autoconfirmed user, but not anonymous or newly registered users.
Permanent full protection[edit]
- Main Page. The highest-profile page.
- {{listing}}. Used on tens of thousands of articles as the basis of our listings.
- {{outlinecity}} and {{outlineregion}} were full-protected in 2015 due to being high-traffic pages
- Wikivoyage:Disclaimer. For legal reasons.
- Wikivoyage:Full text of the Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license. This is the license for Wikivoyage articles, and must remain verbatim.
- Wikivoyage:Full text of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2. Some contributors want to release their work on Wikivoyage under dual licenses; this page was added in order to facilitate that. It is protected because it's only supposed to be copied verbatim.
- Wikivoyage:Privacy policy. For legal reasons.
- Wikivoyage:Terms of use. For legal reasons.
- All WT-en and WV-en user pages, for attribution purposes.
- Everything in the Mediawiki: space is hard-protected by core MediaWiki code; these modify the wiki interface or functionality such as the MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist. Edits to the interface could be used for all sorts of attacks.
- Editing sitewide .CSS or .JS code (plus User:.../*.js and User:.../*.css for anyone other than the specified user) is reserved to those holding the interface-administrator status, plus a select few groups such as stewards. Also these could be used for attacks (don't copy code to yours from untrusted sources).
- Pages that are meant to be historical, and shouldn't be edited, including:
- Wikivoyage:Archive of Wikitravel (not Wikivoyage) awards
- Wikivoyage:Archived awards and mentions for Wikitravel (not Wikivoyage)
- Wikivoyage talk:Archive of Wikitravel (not Wikivoyage) awards
- Wikivoyage talk:Archived awards and mentions for Wikitravel (not Wikivoyage)
- Wikivoyage talk:Archive of Wikitravel talk:Logo voting page
- Wikivoyage talk:Internet Brands
Permanently salted pages (protected from creation)[edit]
- A page that doesn't exist yet - This page shouldn't be created (to show what a broken link looks like at WV:Wiki markup), so I've protected it from creation. –sumone10154(talk) 01:17, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
- User:(WT-en) Nicolas1981/Syntax checks/malformed-url/ target for spambot --Rschen7754 23:25, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
Permanently protected redirects[edit]
For non-article spambot magnets. None currently.
Permanent semi-protection[edit]
- Wikivoyage:Travellers' pub — edit=default & move=sysop. This is enough of a main portal where I think we should give it some level of protection against move vandalism. And if I'm not mistaken, there will never be a reason to move it. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 00:02, 4 April 2009 (EDT)
- Talk:Main Page - per Talk:Main Page#The vast majority of edits to this page are from spambots, whose section title goes a long way in explaining the rationale. To further quote from that discussion: "Is it really that much of a hurdle for the tiny (in fact, as yet nonexistent) subset of new editors who have a problem with or question about the Main Page to have to establish an account and/or do the minimal work required to achieve autopatroller status before taking their concerns [t]here?" -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 23:26, 16 August 2017 (UTC)
- Wikivoyage:Plunge forward. Some vandalism. IP users, non-autoconfirmed users, etc. should not be editing there anyway. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 01:09, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
Main page templates[edit]
Semi-protected per Main Page rationale above.
