Stalled[edit]

So, there are sufficient people to get this language version started, but there are two major tasks (language file translation/adaptation, choose a go-between) that haven't been met. Can we get them started? --(WT-en) Evan 21:44, 27 Aug 2005 (EDT)

Choosing a go-between[edit]

Writing those Hebrew/English reports seems like a hassle. Why is it necessary?(WT-en) Ori Mosenzon 06:16, 4 July 2006 (EDT)

Two Questions[edit]

Swept in from the Pub:

I apologize if these questions have been asked before:

  1. Why isn't this great project one of the Wikimedia Foundation's projects?
  2. How can one initiate a Hebrew Wikivoyage?

Hello and welcome! Take a look at Project:Language version policy for more about starting a Hebrew Wikivoyage. Hope this helps! (WT-en) Majnoona 11:16, 3 July 2006 (EDT)
thanks!(WT-en) Ori Mosenzon 12:14, 3 July 2006 (EDT)
Hi, Ori. Lots of good wikis aren't part of Wikimedia. --(WT-en) Evan 11:51, 3 July 2006 (EDT)
I know, but I think this one is so fundamental and has such a great potential to grow that maybe it should be a WikiMedia's sister project.(WT-en) Ori Mosenzon 12:14, 3 July 2006 (EDT)
Yes, agreed. My feeling has always been that the Internet deserves a diverse wiki ecology, not a Wikimedia monoculture. Wikivoyage right now is a commercial venture, with 1 fulltime employee (me) and one halftime employee (Maj) working on 11 wikis, compared to two (3, now?) employees at Wikimedia working on 600+ wikis. That said, we have a close working relationship with Wikimedia projects and many (most...?) Wikivoyagers are also Wikipedia or Wikimedia participants to a lesser or greater degree.
If you'd like to know more about Wikivoyage's current status, you should probably read Project:About, Project:Welcome, Wikipedians, Project:Internet Brands, and Project:20 April 2006. --(WT-en) Evan 12:25, 3 July 2006 (EDT)
Hi Ori!
We already have an expedition underway to start a Hebrew Wikivoyage. If you're interested look over the links Evan provided and the one I have and see if you'd like to sign up to help us get the Hebrew Wikivoyage off the ground. -- (WT-en) Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 14:04, 3 July 2006 (EDT)
