Arvidsjaur is in Norrbotten County in Sweden.

Arvidsjaur is a central place for the surrounding region, largest within 100 km distance. The name comes from Sami Árviesjávrrie meaning "Lake giving plenty (of fish)". Important industries are forestry and winter car testing.

The temperatures are variable but around 19°C by daytime in July, and around -7°C in January.

Get in[edit]

Arvidsjaur has an airport with flights from Stockholm. It is possible to book a shared taxi, own taxi or a rental car to go to Arvidsjaur. A cheaper option would probably be flying to Skellefteå or Luleå and take the bus. Search for local buses at https://ltnbd.se

Train/bus combination can be used. There are direct trains from Stockholm to Östersund or Jörn, from where there are direct buses to Arvidsjaur. Search for train/bus combinations at https://sj.se[dead link]

In the summer time there are tourist trains from Östersund and Gällivare, going on Inlandsbanan.

To drive to Arvidsjaur, one can use the E45, or road 362-365 from Örnsköldsvik (at E4). Road 95 comes in from Skellefteå in the south-east and continues via Arjeplog to Norway, reaching E6 near Bodø.
