Down for a challenge? Let's aim to make at least one edit within each country. This list includes standalone regions that are distinct from their own countries and territories that internationally recognized by many other countries.

Purpose

It is meant to be a fun challenge to get editors to edit places that are normally outside of their areas and improving contents in areas that are often neglected or outdated.

This is not a competition! There is no deadline for finishing the challenge by a certain date.

If you want to tackle a smaller (and more manageable) part of the challenge, you can focus on all the countries within a continent.

Reward

For completing a continent, you will be awarded with the corresponding continent's barncompass.

What counts as an edit

Any improvement to the content within that country counts. This includes rural areas to big cities, small counties to big regions, parks to airports. It also includes itineraries, phrasebooks and travel topics. We will use a very loose and reasonable definition of what "improvement" means for this challenge. Edits are based on honour system.

• Adding relevant details to any listing or section, for example:
  • How to get in or get around
  • Attractions, activities, restaurants, bars or hotels
  • Location coordinates, phone numbers, websites, prices, hours of operation
  • Description to attractions, restaurants or hotels
  • How to stay safe (scams that are local to the region, emergency numbers, major medical facilities)
• Adding picture to the relevant listing (museums, restaurants, hotels, etc.)
• Updating prices and hours of operation
• Verifying prices if the last update is more than a year ago (or lacks any last updated date)
• Adding custom page banners
• Updating entry requirements
• Updating language phrasebook (if that language is spoken prominently in only one country, e.g. Icelandic phrasebook counts towards Iceland, but Spanish phrasebook will not count unless it's a country-specific term or dialect)
• Removing outdated information (warning boxes or caution boxes that are no longer applicable)
• Removing establishments that are permanently closed

What doesn't count

While the following editing activities are great, they don't substantially improve the contents of a page.

• Reverting vandalism
• Minor changes like changing punctuation marks
• Changing entries in accordance to the time and date formats or the currency format
• Correcting typos
