Understand

Scattered by a number of lakes large and small, fresh and salty, this inland region north of coastal Pamphylia over the Taurus mountain chain, is substantially different from, and less travelled than its coastal neighbours to the south.

Lakes District more or less corresponds to the region named Pisidia in ancient times. In modern administrative terms, Lakes District occupies Isparta and Burdur Provinces and the western extension of Konya Province.
