Kovilpatti (Tamil: கோவில்பட்டி) is a city in Thoothukudi District of Tamil Nadu. It's nicknamed as "City of Matches".

Get in

Kovilpatti is on Madurai-Tirunulveli highway.

From Madurai it will be of nearly 100 km and Tirunulveli will be nearly 60 km. Another major place nearer to this is Tutucorin which is off nearly 50 km.

By train

All trains going towards Tirunulveli and Tutucorin stops at Kovilpatti. Also Nagerkovil to Mumbai via kovilpatti available.

By road

Kovilpatti comes in the NH-5 road connecting Madurai and Tirunulveli and new toll road laid reduces the travel time and increases comfort.

By plane

Kovilpatti has no airport but instead have a small private airstrip owned by Lakshmi Mills group.

Being located in the National Highways Kovilpatti has good number of hotels which gives value for money. Most of the hotels are located near the OLD Busstand and for those coming by train need to travel a distance of nearly 3 km to reach this place.
