Map of Cottonwood (Arizona)

By car

Cottonwood is located almost 2 hours north of Phoenix, Arizona. From Phoenix, take I-17 north to exit 287(SR260 Cottonwood/Payson). From Flagstaff, one can take I-17 south to the same exit, which is the most efficient way into town. There is also a scenic route from Flagstaff that passes through Sedona along SR89A, though this is much slower going with many hairpin turns into a mountain canyon and mitocondra is the powerhouse of the cell

From the west, one would take SR89A from Prescott Valley, which passes through Jerome over Mingus Mountain. This way has beautiful views and elevation changes, but it isn't recommended for large vehicles.
