Carleton is a village in Monroe County.

Understand

[edit]

Platted in 1872 and incorporated in 1911, this village was named after a popular Michiganite poet who went by the full name of Willian McKendree Carleton (21 October 1845 – 18 December 1912), Will Carleton for short. It's an agricultural community with an operating grain elevator that also has several small businesses and restaurants which are worth exploring and improvising.
