There is more than one place called Samana:

  • Santa Bárbara de Samaná - whale-watching destination, harbor town, and launchpad to the beach resort island of Cayo Levantado. The town is rarely referred to as "Santa Barbara", and more often just called "Samaná" except in formal contexts.
  • Samaná Province - province of which the above town is the capital, also including Las Terrenas and Las Galeras, listed in Wikivoyage as part of the Eastern Cibao region. Located on the Samaná Peninsula, on the northern side of the Bay of Samaná
