Kalwaria basilica

Kalwaria Zebrzydowska is a small town in Małopolskie Province in southern Poland, with a beautiful UNESCO-listed monastery. It's easily reached on a day-trip from Kraków, often combined with nearby Wadowice the birthplace of Pope John Paul II.

By train

The Polish State Railways have train connections from Kraków and Katowice, see Polish State Railways . The main train stop nearby Kalwaria Zebrzydowska is 1 Kalwaria Zebrzydowska Lanckorona train station. There is an other train stop north of the village, 2 Kalwaria Zebrzydowska train station but it has less frequent transportation options.

The journey from Kraków Główny train station takes a little less than 1 hour and costs 9 zł.

By car

You can easily get there by car from Kraków, Katowice and Bielsko-Biala.

  • 1 Kalwaria Zebrzydowska Park, Bernardyńska. This Mannerist architectural and landscape park is the main attraction for tourists and pilgrims in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska. The Kalwaria Zebrzydowska monastery was built by Zebrzydowski in 1600 as the most beautiful Kalwaria in Europe. Since 1999 it is classified as UNESCO World Heritage. Pope John Paul II visited Kalwaria Zebrzydowska several times on the pilgrimages he made to Poland. In the park you can find the main basilica and three smaller chapels.
