Savelugu is a town in the Volta Basin of Ghana. It is the capital of Savelugu Municipal, with a population of 122,888 (2021).

[edit]Savelugu is one of the ancient towns of the Dagbon kingdom. It is respected for the royalty of the land and the shea products it produces for the country.
Get in
[edit]It is approximately 25 km (15 miles) from Tamale, the Northern regional capital. The distance from Savelugu to Ghana's capital Accra is approximately 456 km (283 miles).
Mini Taxis offer cheap and safer transportation. It takes 30 to 45 minutes from Tamale.
A private car from any medium-sized town with a driver is only about a few cedis, especially from the airport.
A motorcycle can also serve as a means of transport to the place.

- Yellow-Yellow: It's a tricycle with spacious air seats that can take you to your destination.
- Taxi: Red and yellow branded saloon cars used for public and private transport.
- Motorking: It's a tricycle with a bucket at the back that can be used in loading goods but can be used to onboard passengers even though it is very risky.
