Southern Bahia is a region of the state of Bahia, in the Northeast of Brazil.

Dendê Coast

  • 1 Barra Grande — a fishing village has managed to preserve its unique charm and environment, with a very relaxed lifestyle and splendid beaches
  • 2 Boipeba — an island surrounded by the ocean and the Inferno River estuary of rare natural beauty, home to a great variety of ecosystems
  • 3 Morro de São Paulo — a village in the northern tip of the Tinharé island with no paved streets or car traffic
  • 4 Nilo Peçanha — an agricultural town focused on  cocoa, guarana, cloves, oil palm, black pepper and cassava, with some historical buildings
  • 5 Valença — where you'll go to take the boat to Morro de São Paulo

Cocoa Coast

  • 6 Ilhéus — a place of beautiful beaches and welcoming people, land of cocoa
  • 7 Itabuna — the birthplace of writer Jorge Amado , who describes it in some of his works
  • 8 Itacaré — an up-and-coming vacation spot with amazing beaches, surf, capoeira and plenty of culture

Discovery Coast

  • 9 Arraial d'Ajuda — a beach district of Porto Seguro
  • 10 Caraíva — a laid-back, isolated, rustic beach town
  • 11 Eunápolis — an inland town of 114,000 people (2020)
  • 12 Porto Seguro —  it has amazing beaches and preserved areas of Mata Atlântica, an original tropical jungle
  • 13 Trancoso — an historic city where Pedro Álvares Cabral's fleet landed in 1500 to take possession of Brazil on behalf of Portugal

Whale Coast

  • 14 Caravelas — the nearest town to the Abrolhos Archipelago
  • 15 Itamaraju — home of the Monte Pascoal, the first land sighted by Pedro Álvares Cabral, seen by many as the first European to arrive in Brazil
  • 16 Teixeira de Freitas — a commercial town of 160,000 serving the surrounding agricultural region

Other destinations
