Sedbergh is a town in Cumbria within the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Understand
[edit]Sedbergh has a narrow main street lined with shops. From all angles, the hills rising behind the houses can be seen.
It stands at the foot of Howgill Fells, on the north bank of the River Rawthey, which joins the River Lune 2 miles (3 km) below the town.

Get in
[edit]It lies about 10 miles (16 km) east of Kendal, 28 miles (45 km) north of Lancaster, and about 10 miles (16 km) north of Kirkby Lonsdale.
Sedbergh can be accessed by road from the M6 by leaving at Junction 37.
By bus
[edit]- Dales Bus has occasional services from Dent, Kirkby Stephen, Kendal or Penrith.

[edit]The town is very small and there are good walks.
See
[edit]- 1 Briggflats. Worship Su 10:10AM, open for visits 10AM - 6PM in summer, if a member is there. Very early Quaker Meeting House with a wonderful sense of peace.
- Sedbergh's parish church, dedicated to St Andrew the Apostle, dates from the 12th century, although restored periodically since.
- The remains of the motte and bailey castle are believed to date from Saxon times.
- 2 Ingmire Hall (about two miles (3 km) west of the town). It dates mainly from the 16th-century and includes a pele tower. The hall is on private grounds, but there is a public footpath running along side the drive way.

A 400-year-old pub now run by the National Trust. It is a also a book cafe selling books on history, local history and nature. It does not sell alcoholic beverages but they provide glasses if you bring your own, and do not charge corkage.

[edit]As of Sep 2022, Sedbergh has 4G from EE and O2, and a basic mobile signal from Three and Vodafone. 5G has not reached this area.
