Asia > South Asia > India > Southern India > Kerala > Malabar > Wayanad > Pulpally

Pulpally is a small town in Wayanad district of Kerala state, India, between Sultan Battery and Mananthavady towns.

Understand

[edit]

Pulpally is the most isolated town of Kerala state but it is quite prosperous with income from agriculture and expatriates working in Israel and other west Asian countries. The town is in the very middle of a thick forest with a lot of tribal population. The landscape is getting urbanized fast and the beauty of this remote place is fast disappearing with traffic blocks and mindless development.

Get in

[edit]

Buses are available from Mananthavady, Sultan Battery and Kozhikode

Get around

  • Autorickshaws are ubiquitous. Minibuses are cheaper and safer.
  • Too many cars and bikes make the city center very noisy and undisciplined.

  • SNDP temple. A beautiful yellow temple on the campus of a yellow colored post graduate college.
  • Veliyambam Kotta Temple. It is situated in Kappikkunnu, 5 kms away from Pulpally town. This temple is surrounded by forest and it is believed that this temple is 2, 500 years old. The shrine is round in shape. The main idols are Siva and Parvathy, Ganesa, Ayyappa and the forest goddess (Vanadurga) are also worshipped here.
