Bauchi is in North East Nigeria. It's the capital city of Bauchi State.
Bauchi was the capital of the Bauchi Emirate, an independent state from 1805 to 1904 when it come under British protection. Several landmarks from the era remains in the city centre.
It's fairly easy to get around once you can communicate in Hausa or in English.
- 1 Babban Goni Mosque. Built in 1837.
- 2 Tomb of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. Tomt of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, the first prime minister of independent Nigeria. The tomb also functions as a small museum and the staff will happily teach you about the early history of independent Nigeria.
- Yankari National Park - Wildlife resort that is a must see once you are in Bauchi state.
