Get in[edit]

Map of Belmont (North Carolina)

Belmont is located west of Charlotte and south of Mount Holly, in the south-central part of North Carolina. It is best accessible by car from I-85 or NC-74.

Get around[edit]

Belmont is best accessible by car. However, bicycle riding is popular especially near its town center.

Belmont's most prominent sight is the Gothic architecture of Belmont Abbey College. It is viewable from NC-74, and worth a brief side trip.

Another popular attraction while in town is Belmont's historic town center which features a few restaurants and shops centered around historic 19th century buildings.

There is a 1950s-style drive-in movie theater on the outskirts of town. This attraction is both extremely cheap and fun, especially as a family or date activity.

  • The Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is located in Belmont. This large outdoor garden attracts tourists from around the region, and is especially attractive during the springtime.
  • The U.S. National Whitewater Center is an outdoor recreational park featuring whitewater rafting, kayaking, mountain-biking and zip-lining located just across the Catawba River along Interstate 85 in Mecklenburg County, NC.

Found inside of Belmont is the Hampton Inn, a nicer hotel located off I-85 at exit number 26.
