Dover is a town in central Morris County, New Jersey with a small city feel. It is home to many Hispanic shops and restaurants. It was once an industrial town with machine shops, iron and mill works, and textile factories.
Dover is accessible from Interstate 80 (exit 35 eastbound, exit 35A westbound), U.S. Route 46, NJ-10, and NJ-15. Several taxi services operate in and around the town.
The NJ Transit Morris and Essex Line and Montclair-Boonton Line both stop at the Dover train station, conveniently located in the Blackwell Street district.
Morris County Metro routes 2 and 10 stop here.
Most of the attractions in Dover are located along the downtown Blackwell Street district. The areas surrounding this district are largely residential with not much to see. |Map of Dover (PDF)
Every Sunday from April through December there is a flea market downtown.
Not really Dover, but closed by - Rockaway Townsquare Mall
There are several motels on Route 46 in Rockaway, a drive of about five minutes.
Dover is surrounded by wealthy suburbs and is very safe. If you find yourself walking down Blackwell Street at night, keep your wits about you, but there is really little to worry about.
