The map has some inaccuracies. German is spoken in Austria too. Also Persian is more widespread in Tajikistan than Russian.

Indeed. Persian is probably more travel useful in Tajikistan, although I"m not positive about that. But still and all... --(WT-en) Peter Talk 12:07, 17 July 2011 (EDT)
Thanks for the correction! Some further suggestions: Arab might be useful on the Horn of Africa, especially in Somalia and Djibouti, where it is one of the official languages. Hindi is also spoken in Nepal as a second language by many. Malay/Indonesian could be added as a regional language too, as it is spoken in Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore, Timor-Leste and the southern part of Thailand. —The preceding comment was added by (WT-en) 95.91.6.76 (talkcontribs)
Agreed on Malay/Indonesian (and I would call it just that to avoid petty political points).--(WT-en) Burmesedays 09:17, 24 July 2011 (EDT)
All good suggestions, and the map has been changed. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 12:11, 24 July 2011 (EDT)

German is not spoken in modern day Czech Republic but by a very very small minority. Should be removed. —The preceding comment was added by (WT-en) 68.248.233.215 (talkcontribs)

I also think French should be added as lingua franca for Morocco, Western Sahara, Algeria and Mauritania. Maybe those countries could be double-shaded with Arabic? --(WT-en) Globe-trotter 14:39, 4 February 2012 (EST)
That would be nice to do with Russian/Persian in Tajikistan too. But I'm having Inkscape woes in trying to implement that change. I tried making an alternating diagonal stripe pattern, but my Inkscape just seems to be having none of it. Care to give it a go? --(WT-en) Peter Talk 16:42, 8 February 2012 (EST)
I have taken care of the French-Arabic shading, and applied the same for Russian-Persian in Tajikistan. --Peter Talk 20:24, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Maghreb[edit]

French is a regional language, much more than Spanish, surely. Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:31, 23 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
